Hello! It's been a little while since I've posted on here. I've been keeping busy auditioning, shooting, writing, etc, but additionally, I've also been looking at my skill sets and what I should focus on developing in myself to be more castable as an actor.
So, I've been told on numerous occasions that I "look" like a dancer. Unfortunately, I didn't grow up taking dance classes or training in dance. The closest thing was probably trying to learn how to breakdance in high school but I never put much time into that. However, I've always been an athlete (basketball, swimming, softball, water polo, track and field, cross country) and because of that I have a decent amount of strength and body control. I'm now taking hip hop dance classes at The Sweat Spot in Silverlake to add that to my repertoire of skills. It's funny because even at my first class, I asked the instructor how advanced it would be and he assumed based on my look and build that I already had some training. It's hard, but it's fun, and I'm looking forward to progressing as a dancer. (Secretly, I always wanted to be a dancer, so finally I'm getting to pursue it in the name of acting lol).

The other area that I've been looking at is martial arts and parkour. At various times in my life, I've trained in boxing, MMA, and kung fu, but always at a basic level.  I've had the opportunity in film and on stage to do some stunt work but nothing too elaborate. I've been told that since there are a lot fewer women in the industry who do fighting or parkour, it's easier to find work than it is for men. I just started taking parkour classes at the infamous Tempest Freerunning Academy in Chatsworth where my friend, DeVille Vannik, teaches. Below is an awesome video showcasing the gym.
I guess the last thing I'd want to say is that there is always room to improve ourselves no matter what profession we occupy. As actors, we could be learning new techniques, languages, accents, sports, etc. The list really goes on and on and depends on your background and what is most fitting for you. For now, my focus outside of continuing to study acting technique is dance and parkour. We'll just have to see where it leads me...
